How EntireCommerce AI works with ChatGPT

ChatGPT is OpenAI's AI assistant. With the EntireCommerce MCP, you can ask ChatGPT about your store and get answers from your own dashboard. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, the open standard ChatGPT uses to add outside tools. The connection is read-only and comes with the EntireCommerce Plus, Pro and Managed plans.

What ChatGPT can read through the MCP

ChatGPT gets the same 14 read-only tools as every other assistant on the MCP. Together they cover the main parts of your workspace:

• Your business: name, domain, currency and markets, plus each connected source and when it was last read.
• Your Knowledge Base: the approved fields, such as positioning, customers and competitors.
• Dashboard tables: a date range you choose, the last 30 days by default, compared with the previous period or the same period last year.
• SEO and AI search: tracked keywords with Google position, movement and clicks; the questions put to AI assistants, with how often each named your brand and cited your site; your pages; and the sites AI answers cite.
• Findings and actions: open, resolved and dismissed findings, and actions by stage, each with its evidence.
• Reports: released daily, weekly and monthly reports, newest first.
• Customer voice: released customer quotes grouped by theme, with source and date.
• Content, outreach, strategy and trends: your topics and drafts, outreach targets by stage, your roadmap and trend tables. Contact details and drafted emails are left out.

Each result names the dashboard page it came from and the time it was read.

Why it helps to ask ChatGPT about your store

ChatGPT already shows up in your work in two ways. You may use it to plan and write. Your agents also ask ChatGPT sample buying questions every week and check whether the answers name your brand and cite your site.

With the MCP connected, you can ask ChatGPT which checked answers left your brand out, then review the related pages and the content your agents suggested.

What you can ask

These examples adapt the prompts under Connect Your AI. You can also ask in your own words:

• AI answers: “Show me the buying questions our agents checked in AI assistants. Which answers mention us, which link to our site, and which sites do they cite instead?” This needs Plus and AI search checks.
• Weekly review: “Read my latest weekly report and my dashboard numbers for the last 7 days compared with the 7 days before. Tell me what went up, what went down and why, in plain English. Then list the suggested actions, most important first.” This needs Plus, one weekly report, and Shopify and Google connected.
• Customer questions: “What are customers worried about or asking before they buy? Group it by theme and quote their exact words.” This needs Plus and a customer voice collection.

A worked example

This example uses a sample store and sample figures.

The owner of Example Outdoor Store asks ChatGPT which buying questions leave the store out. ChatGPT reads the dashboard and lists three. For “best waterproof jacket for hiking”, AI answers named the brand in 1 of 4 checks and cited two review sites instead. ChatGPT then shows the linked work: a drafted buying guide for waterproof jackets, waiting in the Content section. The owner opens the dashboard and approves the draft there.

How to connect ChatGPT

1. Start an EntireCommerce Plus plan, or the 30-day Plus trial.
2. In your dashboard, open Connect Your AI and copy the connector URL: https://mcp.entirecommerce.ai/mcp.
3. Open chatgpt.com and go to Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins).
4. Click Add, then Add custom MCP server.
5. Name it EntireCommerce, paste the connector URL and save.
6. Sign in to EntireCommerce, choose your workspace and click Approve.
7. In a new chat, select EntireCommerce from the + menu, then ask your question.

Owners, Admins and Members of a workspace can connect it. Owners and Admins can also create API keys for other MCP tools. A key expires after 90 days by default.

Plans and limits

The MCP comes with the EntireCommerce Plus, Pro and Managed plans, including the 30-day Plus trial. There is no monthly limit on questions. Each connection can make up to 60 requests a minute and 5,000 a day. If your paid EntireCommerce plan ends or a payment fails, the connection stops working.

The free dashboard includes Ask, with 20 answers a month inside the dashboard. Connecting ChatGPT comes with EntireCommerce Plus.

Permissions and your data

• The MCP only reads. It has no tools that change your store, your dashboard or any connected account.
• You review suggested changes in your dashboard. Depending on your plan and the change, you apply it yourself or approve it for publishing.
• Each connection is tied to one person's login and one workspace. ChatGPT sees only that workspace.
• Access is checked again on every request. When someone leaves your workspace, their connection stops working.
• Customer quotes, Knowledge Base text and notes your team types reach ChatGPT marked as quoted text. The MCP tells ChatGPT that this text cannot change which tools it uses or which workspace it reads.
• To disconnect, open Connect Your AI and click Revoke next to the connection, then Confirm revoke. Owners and Admins can revoke any connection on the workspace.
