How EntireCommerce AI works with Google Analytics

Updated 5 November 2026

Google Analytics shows how people reach your store and what they do once they arrive. EntireCommerce AI reads your Google Analytics 4 property beside your Shopify sales and your Search Console data. Your agents can then see which sources bring visitors who buy, which pages those visits start on, and where visitors drop out before checkout. Google Analytics is available on Plus, Pro and Managed, and you connect it yourself with a Google sign-in. Your agents only read it. You can also ask about your visits and checkout steps inside Claude or ChatGPT through our MCP.

What your agents read from Google Analytics

  • Visits: sessions, active, new and total users, page views, engaged sessions, engagement rate, average session duration and bounce rate.
  • Sales recorded by Google Analytics: purchases, revenue and key events.
  • Traffic sources: sessions, orders and revenue by channel and source. This includes visits from AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Claude.
  • Checkout steps: for each source, the sessions that viewed a product, added to cart and began checkout.
  • Landing pages: the pages visits start on, for every channel. For organic search, each page also gets its orders, revenue, time on site and pages per session.
  • Products: how often each product was viewed, added to cart and purchased.
  • Countries and pages: sessions, orders and revenue by country, and the views of each page.

When you connect, the first import loads 16 months of daily, weekly and monthly totals. After that, new days arrive daily. Google Analytics keeps adjusting recent figures for a while, so recent days are read again each day.

What you see in your dashboard

  • Analytics: the total funnel snapshot, the funnel by source, top countries, products added to cart and top pages by views.
  • SEO & AI Search: organic landing pages, and visits from AI assistants broken down by assistant.
  • Weekly and monthly reports: your Google Analytics figures beside your Shopify sales and search results, with each week compared to the week before.

The funnel by source splits visits into Paid, Organic search, Referral, AI assistants, Direct and Other. Each column shows sessions and orders, with the share of sessions that viewed a product, added to cart and began checkout. Shopify's own order count sits below, grouped by the visit that first brought each customer. Orders with no recorded first visit are shown as Unknown. Google Analytics can record fewer purchases than Shopify, so both counts are shown and labelled.

What your agents do with it

The Tracking and Analytics agent is one of nine agents in your dashboard. It starts working once Google Analytics is connected. Each week your agents read the figures in funnel order: visits, engagement, conversion, revenue and repeat buying. They look for the stage where the figures fall, and they check:

  • Which sources bring visitors who add to cart and buy.
  • Which pages organic search visits start on, and which of those pages lead to orders.
  • How many visits came from AI assistants, and what those visitors did next.
  • Figures that look like tracking problems, bot traffic or one-off noise. These are listed separately as anomaly flags.

The Site Performance agent uses the same data to choose which pages to test for speed. It picks up to seven pages from your landing-page visits: your homepage, your busiest collection, product and content pages, and your top landing pages. It keeps the same pages from week to week while they stay among your busiest, and tests each one on mobile and desktop.

The findings and suggested actions appear in Actions, each with the figures behind it. When a number moves and the data does not show why, the suggestion lists the possible causes to check first.

A worked example

This example uses a sample store and sample figures.

Example Jewellery Store gets 4,200 organic search visits in a week, up 12% on the week before. In the funnel by source, the share of organic visits that add to cart falls from 8.3% to 5.7%. The data does not show the cause, so the suggested action lists what to check first: the mix of searches, stock, price changes and tracking. The store owner finds that two best-selling hoops sold out, and restocks them. The next week's funnel shows whether the add-to-cart share recovers.

How to connect Google Analytics

  1. Start a Plus plan, or the 30-day Plus trial.
  2. In Integrations, sign in with the Google account that can see your Google Analytics property. One sign-in covers Google Analytics, Search Console and Merchant Center.
  3. Choose your property. A property that matches your store is marked "Matches your store" and selected for you.
  4. Select Save and Import Data. The import starts within minutes, and your first report follows once your history has loaded and passed its checks.

On Managed, we connect your accounts for you. The free dashboard starts from your Shopify sales and public data, and you can connect Google Analytics when you upgrade.

Google Analytics data inside Claude or ChatGPT

On Plus, Pro and Managed, the EntireCommerce MCP lets you ask about your dashboard inside Claude or ChatGPT. With Google Analytics connected, you could ask: "Which traffic sources brought the most adds to cart last month, and how many Shopify orders came from each?" The answers come from your dashboard tables, and each one names the table it came from and the time it was read.

Permissions and your data

  • EntireCommerce asks Google for read-only access to Google Analytics.
  • Your agents read reports only. They never change your property, events, audiences or settings.
  • On Pro, the changes you approve are published to your Shopify store. Google Analytics stays read-only.
  • To disconnect, email us and we revoke the access at Google and delete the stored sign-in. You can also remove access yourself from your Google account settings. One sign-in covers all three Google tools, so this disconnects Search Console and Merchant Center as well.
  • The data already collected stays in your workspace until you ask us to delete it.
